About Me

Blair Hornstine is expecting her Juris Doctor in 2010. Though she has excelled in many avenues, Ms. Hornstine, since childhood, wished to make her life’s work defending the legal rights of those who cannot do so themselves.

Ms. Hornstine’s first encounter with civil service came in the form of Moorestown Alliance for Goodwill and Interest in the Community, or MAGIC, which she founded alongside her brother, Adam in 1994. Together, Blair and Adam reached out to their community, providing social support and strength through hope to those who were disabled, elderly, and underprivileged.

Through MAGIC, Ms. Hornstine initiated an annual Moorestown food drive, which collected food at each of the city’s public schools, both for donation to the needy, as well as to bring a wider awareness to young people.
Between 1994 and 2003, MAGIC cooperated with the residents of Camden, New Jersey, in ten successful neighborhood revitalization projects. A later project of the organization, completed in the fall seasons of 2000 – 2002, was a cooperative with Wal-Mart stores to donate and purchase fifty book bags filled with school supplies to be donated to elementary school students.

In addition to her work with charity, Blair Hornstine has been involved with a number of notable events. In 2002, Ms. Hornstine was invited to be one of the distinguished torchbearers for the year’s Summer Olympics, hosted in Salt Lake City. She was named one of USA Today’s Academic All-Americans, a Toyota Community National Scholar and a Coca Cola National Scholar. Hornstine was also presented with the President’s Community Volunteer Award, the Congressional Award (Gold Medal), and the Discover Card National Tribute Award.

Blair Hornstine is currently studying law, and she is scheduled to receive her Juris Doctorate in May 2010. Ms. Hornstine’s family already enjoys a legal pedigree with Judge Louis Hornstine, Blair’s father, who is a Superior Court Judge. Blair Hornstine has always been interested in law; particularly in the way it helps the overlooked and poverty-stricken to maintain their individual rights.

Ms. Blair Hornstine is a firm believer in equality under the law. When Blair Hornstine earned the highest cumulative grade point average in the seventh semester of her senior year of her high school education, she never thought she would have to fight to earn what was rightfully hers: the honor of being named sole valedictorian. In the end, Ms. Blair Hornstine did have to fight, and the legal battle that resulted would teach her a great deal about the legal system and the importance of equality.

Blair Hornstine spent much of her high school career at home, taking private lessons, because she was not healthy enough to attend regular classes. Due to a rare chronic fatigue syndrome, Blair Hornstine often lacked the energy to participate in traditional schooling, but she did not let her medical condition get in the way of her dreams. Like her brother had in 1999, Blair Hornstine was named Moorestown High Valedictorian, and in 2003, she fulfilled her goal by asserting her legal rights as a special needs student.
